Well hello all,
I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I finally got a new printer for my room - greatly needed. But that's beside the point, right?
My day today has consisted of the following:
Get up
Lay in bed for a while, thinking
Get up and help parents
Skype with Ben for an hour (while texting him the entire day, anyways)
Help dad
Help mom who is incredibly sick
Skype with Ben
Go to Jenna's
Home
Skype with Ben while writing (part of) this
Bed
I find it funny how unproductive days are when you're on vacation. I mean, don't you feel like you should have something to do other than just sit around on Facebook, playing video games, watching TV or anything else? There are always points in my day, when I say to myself "I want to get a move on this. I need to get a move on in life." Which, sounds stupid, but is true. For example, when I'm in my room and it's cluttered with a mess of whatever, I generally start to think "Yeah, I'll get to this later." But, then, it really never gets done, now does it? So, why don't I just start cleaning? I mean, I'm struggling through writing this blog right now because I'm practically out of ideas at the moment from all the distractions around me, and I even keep opening another tab to check Facebook, etc.
Humans are one of the laziest living things in the world. Maybe more so than sloths. Especially teenagers. We have so much to do, that everything we have to do becomes a distraction from the other things we have to do/are doing. I'm pretty sure that I could get my homework done 10x faster if my laptop and phone weren't in the room. And I mean, even when I'm not using them and doing homework, it still makes me work slower. Same goes for everyone. There are some people that get their homework done with Facebook up, texting, and the TV on. But, let's be honest: Would you have gotten it done faster if they weren't there? Would you have done better work if they weren't there? Yes. Trust me, there is no way anyone would have done better with having such a distraction in front of them. When I do my homework over vacation (which is reading 3 chapters and doing dialectical journals on them in Lord of the Flies, and I am dreading reading it right now just because of how much I hate that book), I think I'm going to try and put both my phone and laptop in the other room and see how much faster I'd get it done. Just imagining them in their while reading actually makes me feel less stressed, somehow.
My point? When you have something to do just get it over with and done. Don't distract yourself with anything else. Just sit there, and do it... although maybe it requires you to stand instead of sit, or walk, or whatever. People have so much crap to do, and then we complain in the end when we have no time to relax or anything else. So, get off your lazy bum, and get it over with. No matter how much you hate having to do something, it'll all be over soon. You just have to get it done first.
(Note that this post was created because I ran out of ideas. Hopefully, there should be another one at the end of the day.)
